Fair Work has confirmed a 3.5% increase to the minimum wage, effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.
The new National Minimum Wage will be $948 per week or $24.95 per hour.
This applies to:
✅ All employees covered by a modern award
✅ Award-free employees on the national minimum wage
Business owners: Here are 5 quick tips to stay compliant
1. Check Award Classifications – Ensure each employee is correctly classified under their applicable award.
2. Update Pay Rates & Loadings – Make sure ordinary and penalty rates are adjusted correctly.
3. Review Above-Award Payments – Even if you’re paying “above award”, you must ensure the increase is still met.
4. Communicate with Your Team – Be transparent about the changes and when they’ll take effect.
5. Review Rostering & Budgets – Factor in the wage rise across your rosters and forecasts.
A quick HR check now can prevent costly underpayments or Fair Work issues later.
